I've got some questions for you! Be honest...and you aren't required to post your answers. ;)
Do you subscribe to a scrapbooking kit club?
Do you have any unused kits?
Do you wish you could get more than one or two layouts out of your kits?
Do you wish you could get into your stash (I know you've probably got one, so I'm not asking) and MAKE your own kits to use up some of your supplies?
If the answer to any of these questions is "YES", then I am so happy to introduce you to May Flaum!
(Don't you love seeing her in her super-creative studio?)
Many of you will know May because she's a Fiskateer Crafting Ambassador for Fiskars (home of the orange-handled scissors). You might not know that May is also a HUGE fan of kit clubs, and she's bringing her kit talent back to BPS for another run of her Crazy About Kits workshop. In this 6-week workshop, just underway, May will share with you some great advice on how to make the most of the kits you have -- and it's pretty impressive to see just how many layouts May can get from that kit box that comes in the mail. She will inspire you with her thriftiness -- after all, stretching those kits into many layouts, cards, and projects will get your money's worth and more out of those supplies -- and with her creativity! She's also created this great Powerpoint on designing kits, and shows us what works and what doesn't, so we can create our own kits for cropping away from home or just to see our stash of product in a new light. Even though this is class ran last year, May has added some great new inspiration to keep up with product trends. Here's a sneak peek at one of her new layout additions:
More about May? Well, she's just co-authored a book!! If you have been thinking of going digital, but are just too fond of the scrapbooking stuff (I'm with you), then I highly recommend that you check out Paper + Pixels, because this is the book that finally made me ready to try some digital fun.
What I LOVE about May and Audrey's book is that it clearly targets those of us who love the tactile part of scrapbooking, but reminds us that we're already using our computers to type our journaling, etc., so it gently nudges us into exploring more that we can do with our computers. These talented scrapbookers are not taking my Glue Dots away from me, but they are showing me how I can get more out of my computer -- so just like with the Kits class, I'm learning new ways to use what I have. May and Audrey will teach you how to create some nifty digital elements to incorporate with your traditional supplies, and there's even an included CD with some great digital elements and kits to get us started.
So, if you want to make the most of your stash of kits -- remember those questions I asked you?? -- check out May Flaum's class, but hurry! Registration ends on June 4th.
I 'met' May on the Fiskateers board & have admired her talent & creativity. She is such a nice person too! May is an awesome instructor & when I saw that she was teaching a class, I couldn't wait to sign up. I am so enjoying her class and am looking forward to be able to work & create more with kits as well as make my own from my existing stash.
