Melinda Wilson

Music is such a huge part of my life - I play piano, sing, kids in band and choir etc. so there are MANY that bring back so many memories. My most recent is "I've Got a Feeling" by The Black-eyed Peas. I was recently diagnosed with diabetes but at this time it is diet controlled. When I hear this song, it motivates me to stick with it, get up and move and JUST MAKES ME HAPPY! This diagnoses will not get me down!

Daddy's Little Girl - my dad had a special version of this song that he wanted to use for the father/daughter dance at my wedding. It was so special that he took the time to think of the song he wanted to dance to with me and get the version that he wanted.

my oldest used to have a medley of songs that he'd sing whenever we'd get in the car:
Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes
Lights Camera Action (the wiggles)
Vertigo, U2
Jingle Bells
Spoonful of Sugar (Mary Poppins)
Toot Sweets (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang)

this sounds like such a fun class!

Celebration by Kool and the Gang reminds me of being carefree and having fun in high school.

Every time I hear Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You", I think of my son's adoption story. That song was popular when he was born and on one of those sleepless nights I turned on the radio and danced with him to it. He went right to sleep and I cried the whole song. It went along so well with my feelings for him and his birth mother who gave me the greatest gift I could ever receive. I'm going to scrap this page now!

I am a huge music person and I'm a huge Journey fan so anything by them gets me going...but I have a soft spot for the song "Right Here Waiting" by Richard Marx because it was our wedding song...and we just recently celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary!

Scrappy Angel

There are just too many list. Music always lifts my spirits and my energy level. Although I like listening to soft relaxing music as well, my favourite type has to be anything that gets me moving and bopping (which truth be told is really not very hard to do! lol).

I'm laughing as I write this, but the Gap Band "You Dropped a Bomb on Me" is going through my head. It brings back some fond high school memories!

I have a few favourites song but what really motivates me is 90s disco music soooo loud.

I used to go out & dance A LOT. I liked to wear fancy clothes and dance till the sunrise.

I was so happy back then :) and now is just so different...

At the moment it's "Get happy" Judy Garland

What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong. This was the song we used in our wedding ceremony, right at the start when both our families walked down the aisle before us. The lyrics of the song says it all - how beautiful the world is, full of treasures I would not exchange for anything else: family, friends, and the beauty around us. To this day, whenever I hear this song, I always stop doing whatever I'm doing and immerse my heart in thankfulness.

I grew up with Simon and Garfunkel music at home. When I hear anything from the Bridge over Troubled Water album and think of happier, simpler times. Joan Armatrading sang me through my late teens and early twenties and many a heartache! But to choose one song or artist ... too hard. Life changes and there is always a new music track to accompany those changes.

Wow I read one of the first post. My mom had told me many years ago the song they had dedicated for me was Skip a Rope. I loved the tune when I was a child. It wasn't untill I started gathering important music in my life that I really listened to it. I agree it did suit my life as a child. but I am grateful that the theme was not repeated in my married life. :)

I tend to have a theme song for different years or seasons of my life. Crazy? Maybe a little. Haha! My husband and I had been married 2 years (I had just turned 23) and we had been living in my hometown. The place where I had grown up and all my huge extended family lived. This was the year we moved across the country. Tennessee to Arizona. Whew. As I drove away, waving to my mother and my brother, I was listening to Wide Open Spaces by the Dixie Chicks and bawling my eyes out. That song always reminds me of what a great adventure that year was to leave home and find myself and ourselves as a married couple. :)

I love songs by Boston - they remind me of good times with my husband, who passed away over 18 months ago.

Sandy L

Cats in the Cradle by Harry Chapin. When I heard it, I realized that was me and my dad... and I wanted my sons to NEVER feel that way.

Heather Thomas

"Dream a Little Dream"--the Wilbur Schwandt version--from the movie of the same title reminds me of growing up with the "Coreys." Yes, that's right, Corey Feldman and Corey Haim. Every time I hear the song, I think about their characters in the movie and how I couldn't decide which one I liked more. Talk about having a crush!

Molly McCarthy

Right now it has to be... "The Eye of the Tiger". Anyone who has Rock Band can relate. It's the first song the kids learned and it still brings back fabulous memories of high school for me!

Robyn W

one of my fave's is Reo Speedwagon's Keep on loving you ......still reminds me all these ....*cough* twenty soething odd years later of the pain back then ....all good, also makes me smile, does that make sense !
would love the chance for a spot in class
thank you

Marta Valdes

Wow, there are so many songs that popped in my head. Since I am in LOM mode. I would have to say "Girls Just Want Have Fun". I relate this song to my LOM Sisters, because we all just want to have FUN scrapbooking.

Kelly Burkhart

Music is such a huge part of my life! This is a great topic...but because I love music so much, it's tough to pick just one song.
Now that I'm a mother there are many songs that speak to me in such a powerful way. One of those songs is "I Hope You Dance." It speaks to me of dreams for the future and it gives fabulous advice for all of us.

Dancing Queen by ABBA. I hear it in my head often in the positive moments of my life, like when I'm feeling strong and beautiful and carefree. :)

Kerry G.

There are many different songs that remind me of people, places and things and surpringly I've never scrapped any of them. When I was in high school, my best friend and I loved Better than Ezra. We had their tape (gasp! a tape!) Deluxe and she would drive us around and we'd listen to it endlessy. Better than Ezra's album Friction, Baby came out right before she left for college. She was homesick that first semester we wrote each other a lot. One day a letter came for me in the mail from her. I opened it and inside she had written the lyrics to their song Speeding Up to Slow Down, which was the very song I was listening to on my CD player at that moment. It was eerie and a wonderful coincidence. I think of her everytime I hear any Better than Ezra song. Also, I better go scrapbook this right now or sign up for the class!

I love "September" by Earth, Wind, and Fire. I think of summers "cruising" with friends. Lots of fun and silliness.

I was listening to Amy Grant's "Lucky One" this weekend, remembering how I chose it to be my wedding song. Every word in that song described how I felt about my soon-to-be-husband. 15 years later, I still feel the same way.
