What are you doing this summer?

Here at BPS we want to bring you creative inspiration that you can engage with in small doses—by e-mail!

If you’re a photo enthusiast looking to have some splashy fun with your camera this summer, then Picture Summer, 30 days of splashy seasonal celebration is the perfect treat!

Are you ready for summer camp? What about an e-mail camp that will help you complete a ton of fun layouts! May has her (virtual) bags packed and is ready to go! Join her for Camp Scrap!

If you’re looking to spend some quality time with your kids, and share your love of crafting with them, then pull up your beach towel, and take Tami Morrison’s class, Kidding Around!

 

Do you have technique envy? 52 Card Pick Up will provide you with 52 new techniques to add to your bucket of skills.

These classes are accessible and on-the-go! No matter where your summer travels are taking you, there’s a BPS class for you! We’d love to hear from you! Leave a comment about which summer class you’d love to take and why. I’ll select 4 random names Thursday, June 3rd at 10:00am and each will receive a spot in one of the above classes!

My family is enjoying a rainy, but restful Memorial Day weekend, and guess who is late posting the final three WINNERS in our Page A Day for May celebration?

It has been an absolute delight to watch our BPS galleries continue to fill with your creativity--I know I say this a LOT, but we love our BPS community ...

 

I'm so delighted to see Tena Sprenger's workshop 52 Card Pick Up underway again. Jammed pack with fun, unique techniques to apply to your creative projects -- it has been a favorite for so many BPS students. I just really like Jackie Waldman's deck and the wonderful jumble of color and texture (ribbon, twine, etc..) that sits atop her jumbo binder ring -- so absolutely touchable!

I've added Jackie to May Flaum's Holiday Recipes for Scrapbooking class.

 

And ... wow, look what Karen McCann found "just under her nose" all because she had an assignment in Elisa's Get Out of Auto Mode workshop. This is beautiful Karen.

And finally ... I've added Marcia Carter to Tami Morrison's Unpack Your Vacation Memories class, because I am so impressed with her creative space! Marcia has used one wall in her bedroom to create this amazingly organized array of scrapbooking goodness. Marcia scrapbooks on her coffee table in the living room.

I was poking around the Library of Memories gallery again and am so pleased that Angie Brown is still working on her assignments!

Take a look at two of her navigation pages.

This one for her son Christopher

And this one for Nicholas

These are essentially title pages that introduce you to Christopher and Nicolas' personality albums. There is something so magical about a collection of personalty pictures that span several years of a child's life. Before you ever read the first layout in either album, you have a sense of this person.

Look at these delicious strawberries? Jane O'Leary snapped this shot, but it was her comment that caught my attention: "I think this was in P? The weekend was such a wirlwind I am not sure what the heck my settings were!"

I'm with Jane -- when it comes to improving your photography, half the battle is paying attention to what you are doing. Most of the time, I'm so enamored with the subject that I lose all sense of "settings." In any case, that's where Elisha comes in.

and, I think your strawberries are fabulous. Your composition is beautiful as well!

Page a Day for May 26th

If you know me at all, then you know I'm a color-fanatic. When browsing through Elizabeth Dillow's Inspiration Defined gallery, I found myself drawn to many of the layouts that were created in response to color challenges. I adore the simplicity of this page by Tara McKernin (love the sentiment too.)

I had added Tara to Autumn Baldwin's class, On Being a Mom.

We Love Kolette Hall

If you have ever take a class with Kolette Hall then you know her to be full of positive energy for life. Kolette has a unique gift that enables her to share personal insights for "choosing joy" right alongside beautiful scrapbook pages, projects and personal hand-crafted gifts.

Unfortunately our sweet Kolette is in the midst of a major illness that has had her hospitalized and unable to care for her husband, Jason and son, Cole for nearly a month. Kolette's sister called me Monday morning to fill me in on the details. She is receiving expert care at the hands of capable doctors and nurses, and her sister has moved in with her to provide round-the-clock care. Her recovery will be slow and painful at times. 

I think in addition to medical care and the attention of close family friends, Kolette could use some cheering up from her BPS family.

Kayce and I would like to invite you to send get well cards and notes or letters to Kolette. Please send your wishes to our P.O. Box and we will forward them in batches to her, in care of her sister.

Pat said:I tend to skimp through my photos looking for the right one for the time I have to scrap. The photos tend to stir up a story or jounaling ideas then I take a pinch of this and that, if the mix is right then the "proof is in the Pudding". I try to stay away from the spicy stuff (lots of embellishments) unless it is a vacation mix or special occasion.

I'm interested to know, do you bake, cook or are you a chips and soda kind of gal?  

When you're going to a family dinner or a cookout with friends are you the person who brings the side dish, a yummy dessert or stops at the store on the way for chips?  It seems people generally fall into one of these camps.   And, I’ll admit it does change over time.  When I was younger, I definitely fell into the chips category.   It’s quick, easy and on the way.  Now I guess I’m the dessert person.  I love to bake and usually bring the pie to Thanksgiving and cookies at Christmas.    

Does your answer to the baking, cooking and chips question say anything about your scrapbooking style?

Do you scrapbook the same way?   Are you constantly, on the hunt for new recipes (techniques and layouts?)  Do you hate recipes but want to experiment with new flavors (papers and products?)   Are you super busy, and just want to bring something to the party (maybe finish a kit?)

Darci Dowdle is hosting a great party here at BPS and you’re invited. You do need to bring something to the party.  So, head over to your scrapbooking pantry and figure out what you’re bringing.  Some suggestions from our host Darci include:  those fun papers you’ve never used, a kit you’d like to use in a different way (for those who hate to follow the recipe) or maybe those random letters you threw into your basket at the scrapbook store.  

 A Baker’s Dozen, gives you the recipe to successfully make 13 new layouts - a bakers dozen. The party starts with preparation, decorating an egg carton and gathering supplies and ends with your unique scrapbooking entrees, desserts and maybe a bag a chips depending on your personality! 

If you’d like your VIP pass to A Baker’s Dozen, tell us about your scrapbooking style.  Do you start with a color, an event, or maybe a cool product?  Do you scrap late at night, during the kid’s naps, or with friends on the weekends?   Do you scrap projects or one page at a time and then decide how to use it later?  Anything goes!  Just share with us tips from your own scrap cookbook!

Karen Grunberg is teaching an interesting class this year, called Reclaiming My Time. Hundreds of women have started an album that they will return to again and again--in an effort to better understand where they spend time and how they can focus on things important to them.

I adore scrapbooking projects that helps us live with greater intention.
I love Magdalena Pomikalkova's title page that she created digitally.

I'm looking forward to seeing additional pages added to her gallery! In the meantime, I've added her to Karen Grunberg's project class, The Book of Why.

Come on, how could I resist with "Busted" as the title?

In fact, Wendy is a myth-buster. In this photo, she is standing by the Blue Danube river, which she reports is a murky green.
